TEDxCopenhagen: A multi-genre, multi-sensory experience

TEDxCopenhagen’s Main Event is more than a series of talks. It is a complete multi-sensory experience. At the heart of the event are the speakers and their ideas, but our sharp volunteers also seek out talented artists who both entertain and induce reflection through their creativity.

For this year’s Main Event, Dawda Jobarteh and Oliver Hoiness, Casper-Malte Augusta, Silvester and Emil Elg will stage performances of dance and performance art, the spoken word and music at Bremen Teater.

Dawda Jobarteh and Oliver Hoiness: Improvised Instrumentals Transcending Genres

Oliver Hoiness is a renowned guitar player recently awarded 2016’s Musician of the Year by Steppeulven (Årets Musiker). His significant musical contributions to Kira and Skammens Vogn are also well-known. Dawda Jobarteh, a native of Gambia, is a virtuoso of the 21-string kalabas harp and he has built his career in Copenhagen, where he has been living for several years. Dawda performed at Roskilde Festival and has played with several musicians in both the Nordic jazz and global music scene.

As a duo, Oliver and Dawda are set to create an ambient stage,  transcending genres in a performance of open and free improvisation. Taking inspiration from curiosity and the unprecedented, the performance is bound to be a vibrant number that reiterates the power and creativity involved in improvisation.

Casper-Malte Augusta: Honest Performance Art

Casper-Malte Augusta will restage scenarios and uncover themes on the body. Casper-Malte is an experienced dancer trained in Sweden, Israel and New York, specialising in improvisation, contemporary and technique. He has performed and choreographed at the Royal Theatre and the Dome of Visions.

Casper-Malte’s performance will be an honest exploration of ideas of the body as it interacts with the space that will surely captivate the audience.

Silvester: Simple and Cosmic Music

Silvester’s music is an amalgamation of the simple and the cosmic. Awinbeh Ayagibar’s vocals transport the audience across universes that transcend times through unique popmelodies that are classic but simultaneously contemporary.

Having recently formed in the spring of 2015. The band has already played concerts at major venues in Copenhagen such as Vega, Pumpehuset and Jazzhouse. Silvester’s EP, which is mixed by Aske Zidore (Oh No ONO and Choir Of Young Believers), is coming out later in 2016.

Emil Elg: Easiness and Loneliness

To complete our lineup of performances, Emil Elg will present his piece called "easiness and loneliness". Emil is a member of the music band synd og skam and the comedy group lol beslutning. “easiness and loneliness” is a dialogue between French philosopher Rene Descartes and Danish football player Nicklas Bendtner.
